Daniel Craig reacts to rumors of Hugh Jackman taking the role of ‘James Bond

Hugh Jackman, star of ‘Wolverine,’ has been linked to the role of James Bond, according to Daniel Craig.

Before Daniel stepped in in 2006, the performer, who has portrayed a number of famous roles throughout his career, was rumored to be a possible successor to Pierce Brosnan in the role. Now that he’s saying goodbye to the character after 15 years, the actor has chimed in on rumors that Hugh might be back in the running for the position. His response, on the other hand, was unexpected.

“He’s not going to be it,” the actor stated in an interview, dismissing the prospect of Jackman ever playing 007 again.

“Over my dead body,” he joked.

The clip that had fans laughing out loud, reached Jackman’s timeline. Sharing the post with fans on social media, the actor wrote, “Well … that kills that rumor! Daniel, mate, you will always be @007 to me. #notimetodie.”

Hugh and Daniel are in fact longtime friends and even starred together on the Broadway stage in 2009′s A Steady Rain.

Meanwhile, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, the producers behind James Bond spy series, said they won’t discuss who will take over the long-running film franchise following the departure of Daniel Craig until 2022.

The makers are looking forward to the release of ‘No Time To Die‘, which stars Craig in his fifth and final appearance as the British MI6 agent. The film, which is set to have its world premiere at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday, is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Broccoli and Wilson, half-siblings and heads of Bond outfit Eon Productions, talked about the future of the film series in an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s popular Today program on Monday morning.

When asked if they’ve chosen who will take Craig’s position in the series, Broccoli said, “No, no, no. We’re not even considering it. We want Daniel to be able to enjoy his time off. We’ll start thinking about the future next year.”

Craig, who has portrayed Bond since 2006’s ‘Casino Royale,’ has played the part so brilliantly, according to Wilson, that finding a replacement is nearly difficult.

“He’s been a fantastic Bond. That’s a hefty pair of shoes to fill. I’m not sure whether it’s even conceivable, “Added he.
