Amitabh Bachchan has worn many hats throughout his extensive career in the film industry. He’s worked as an actor, a singer, and a producer. However, even after 54 years in the field, the seasoned actor continues to find new things to accomplish. Amitabh will see his name in the film’s credits for the first time as a composer in the upcoming flick Chup.
R Balki directs Chup: Revenge of the Artist. He previously directed Amitabh Bachchan in Paa, Cheeni Kum, and Shamitabh. It has been touted as a tribute to the late filmmaker Guru Dutt, with Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Pooja Bhatt in the cast.
In an interview with E-Times, director Balki explained how Amitabh became involved with the film: “It all happened spontaneously. I had requested that Amitji watch the film (Chup). After viewing it, he invited me over and played me a melody on his piano, explaining that it reflected how he felt about the film and its characters. He was moved. I was overjoyed. I requested permission to use the song, and he promptly donated it to the film. Today, Chup is the first film to include Amitji’s official soundtrack as the end credits music.”
On September 23, Chup, a psychological thriller, will be released in theatres. In June, the film’s trailer was published. Last year, when discussing the film, Balki remarked, “Chup is a dedication to the sensitive artist, and Guru Dutt is at the top of that list. I’m delighted we finally wrote it and are almost through filming it because I’ve had the idea for so long.”
