Thursday, actor Chiranjeevi spoke out about the box office failure of his recent film Acharya, which was a financial failure. In a recent interview with the media, Chiranjeevi stated that he accepts full responsibility when one of his films fails. After the film’s failure, he and his son, the actor Ram Charan, returned 80 percent of their compensation to the producer, citing the example of Acharya. Additionally, Chiranjeevi stated that he bears no responsibility for their film Acharya.
The plot of the Telugu movie Acharya, which was directed by Koratala Siva, centers on a middle-aged social reformer who engages in a battle against the Endowments Department in response to the department’s misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations. This was the first time that Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan appeared together in a lengthy role.
Chiranjeevi stated at a recent event regarding Acharya’s failure, “I take full responsibility when a film fails, and I accept Acharya’s failure in stride. I have no regrets about making the film. Ram Charan and I both returned 80% of our compensation to the producer.”
Despite earning Rs. 73 crores in croresirst three days of release, the film was ultimately unsuccessful. According to the box office tracking website Andhra Box Office, Acharya was a “double disaster.” According to their report, Acharya’s theatrical value was estimated at Rs. 140 crores. After its theatrical run, the film was unable to break even at the box office. Additionally, the website tweeted, “Acharya is dead at the box office on its opening Monday. Gross sales on the fourth day are abysmally low, and market share is negligible.”
GodFather, Chiranjeevi’s most recent film, has grossed over 100 crore rupees at the box office. GodFather is an action-drama directed by Mohan Raja and starring Salman Khan in an extended cameo. In addition to Nayanthara, Satyadev, and Murali Sharma, the film features several other notable actors in pivotal roles.
