At a time when pan-Indian films such as KGF 2, Pushpa The Rise, and RRR are dominating the conversation, we remembered how Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s collaborations with filmmaker Mani Ratnam fared well in the country, regardless of language. Mani Ratnam’s Guru (2007) and Raavan (2008) both featured the couple (2010). Abhishek also had a role in the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s 2004 film Yuva.
When we asked Abhishek if we’d be seeing him and his wife Aishwarya Rai create some on-screen magic anytime soon, he said yes. “I would love to collaborate with her again,” the actor said, “but obviously, it has to be the right script at the right time.” We can’t make a film together until we find that. But we both enjoy working together.” When asked about his wife’s career as an actor, Abhishek described him as “an artist I have enormous respect for and enjoy working with.”
Surprisingly, Abhishek had a fantastic outing on the web platform. When the theatres were closed for the last two years, Abhishek found a new audience through OTT platforms. Abhishek showed different sides of himself as an actor in roles such as Ludo, The Big Bull, Bob Biswas, and Dasvi. His choice of scripts was praised not only by his fans but also by his father, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.
Bob Biswas will now have his television debut at Zee Cinema on April 30. Abhishek recalled working on the Sujoy Ghosh-directed film with Bob Biswas as “a lot of fun” because “it was challenging.” Abhishek played the titular character in the film, who has forgotten his entire life after waking up from a coma. When asked if there is a time in his life that he wishes he could forget or erase, Abhishek responded, “I love every heartbeat of my life.”
He recalled how this was his first feature film, shot entirely in Kolkata. It was also one of the films for which Amitabh Bachchan lavished praise on Abhishek. When asked about it, the actor stated that he treasures his father’s words to him.”There is nothing more humbling for an actor than this.” Asked how he felt about I’m glad he enjoyed it and my role,” said the director of the film.
Abhishek is currently enjoying Dasvi’s success.
