Brahmastra Part One-box Shiva’s office has been dipping in its first week, but it has still managed to cross the important 300-crore mark at the end of its first week. In India, the film grossed 200 crores (nett 173 crores) in all languages during the same time period. However, trade analysts have stated that the daily drop is a little too high for a film of this size, which may hurt its prospects in the future.
Karan Johar, the film’s producer, took to Twitter on Friday morning to share Brahmastra’s first-week worldwide box office gross. The producer claimed in a video that the film had crossed the $300 million mark globally. “Love and light are at the top of the global box office! “Entering the second week with a grateful and excited heart,” Karan wrote alongside the video. Brahmastra dominated global box office as well, emerging as the highest-grossing film worldwide with a gross of around $38 million (just over 300 crore) in the absence of major Hollywood releases in the previous week due to the 9/11 anniversary.
The film has also performed well in India. According to trade trackers Sacnilk and BoxOfficeIndia.com, Brahmastra earned 9 crore nett in India on Thursday across all languages, bringing its total week one nett to 173 crore. Its gross collection for the same time period is slightly more than 200 crore. However, the film has been dropping by 15-20% per day over the last few days, which is concerning for a film of this size.
Brahmastra is not yet a hit in India, despite the fact that it is expected to earn 300 crore. Given its reported budget of 410 crore, the film must perform well in its second week to be considered a hit. The fact that the film will not face competition from any major Indian releases until Vikram Vedha and Ponniyin Selvan: On September 30, I will be released in theatres.
Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra is the first in a trilogy and the beginning of a new cinematic universe. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy star, with cameos from Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan.
