“Chura Ke Dil Mera” is still considered one of the most popular love songs of the 1990s. Given its enduring appeal, attempting to recreate it is fraught with danger. The fact that Hungama 2 also stars Shilpa Shetty in front of the camera is a saving grace for the film’s creators. Even if the actor owns both the original and updated versions.
The remade song, titled “Chura Ke Dil Mera 2.0,” features Shilpa Shetty and Meezaan Jafri swinging a leg. Meezaan made his Bollywood debut in 2019 with Malaal, the son of veteran actor Jaaved Jaaferi and grandson of famous performer Jagdeep.
Compared to the original, which is largely a love number, “Chura Ke Dil Mera 2.0” has been recreated as a part number with a lot more dance routines. Meezaan is in top shape, displaying his father’s dance DNA. He’s attempting to court Shilpa, Paresh Rawal’s onscreen wife.
The song is classified with the original hook steps and music, which would cause the listener to recall the earworm from the 1994 action-comedy, Main Khiladi Tu Anari. Shilpa’s outfit is so close to her animal print dress that the producers have preserved it.
Shilpa Shetty posted the video of the song on social media, noting that her original co-star Akshay Kumar was absent from the updated version.
