The horror-comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, is expected to make around Rs 90 crore in its first week.
Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 appears to have passed the critical Monday box office test, finishing in the double digits. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film earned Rs 10.75 crore on day four, bringing its total earnings to Rs 66.7 crore.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 grossed Rs 14.1 crore on Friday, Rs 18.3 crore on Saturday, and Rs 23.5 crore on Sunday, making it a standalone sequel to the 2007 original. The Rs 55.9 crore weekend was the highest in Kartik’s career, surpassing the Rs 35 crore earned by Pati Patni Aur Woh in 2019.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the 20% drop in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 on Monday is primarily due to lower ticket prices. The decrease in footfall is minor. Mumbai and Gujarat are doing particularly well, which bodes well for the film’s future. Overall, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark soon; it is expected to end its first week with Rs 90 crore. The film also earned Rs 13 crore in overseas markets, bringing its global total to Rs 80 crore.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s action film Dhaakad, which she claims was made on a larger budget than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, is quickly becoming a flop of epic proportions. The film grossed less than Rs 2 crore in its first weekend.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee and starring Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, and Rajpal Yadav, was released in theatres on May 20. Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starred in the original film.
