Don’t believe the content of my film: Rohit Shetty on ‘Sooryavanshi’ release

The wait for Rohit Shetty’s cop drama ‘Sooryavanshi’ has been lengthy, but the filmmaker is certain that the film will stand the test of time when it hits theatres.

While many filmmakers are opting for a digital release due to the uncertainties surrounding the reopening of theatres during the coronavirus epidemic, the creators of the Akshay Kumar starrer are sticking to their promise of presenting the film as a theatrical experience.

‘Sooryavanshi’ was supposed to be released on March 24 of last year. The filmmakers later stated in June 2020 that the film would be released during Diwali, however, it was postponed again and was due to debut in theatres in November 2020.

There is no word on a new release date for the film, which also stars Katrina Kaif, while theatres throughout the country remain closed.

When asked if there was any fear about the film’s material becoming stale as they wait for things to normalize, Shetty responded that because of the subject matter and the manner it was filmed, ‘Sooryavanshi’ will “never look old.”

“I never feel that my film’s substance would become outdated or anything like that. We had a promotion going on. There have been films produced and ready for three years that are still awaiting distribution…

“In the meantime, I’ve finished a film and will begin editing ‘Cirkus’ right now.” “I don’t believe the picture will go stale; that will not happen,” the filmmaker stated.

When questioned about the release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ earlier in the day at a press conference, Shetty, 48, replied, “The question is when will cinemas open up?”

The director, on the other hand, believes that the focus should be on immunizing individuals across the country, which would help restore some sort of normalcy.

“The most essential thing is immunization, and once that is accomplished, everything else will fall into place. However, we must not believe that things are gradually improving. Even now, we must take care since everything is not in order. Cases are increasing in other nations. This is a moment when we all need to be more cautious and not go on vacations assuming that everything will be OK “he stated

Shetty is concerned about the possibility of a third wave of the epidemic, he added.

“We were waiting for theatres to reopen after the first wave, but then came the second. The government has made a prognosis for the third wave. The authorities and the general public are concerned, and we must take measures. My main concern is the third wave, which, God forbid, will arrive. I’m not sure how bad it will be or how long it will stay. I’m not thinking about when the movie will be released right now. It is impossible that theatres will open on August 15 and the film will be released. At the moment, the battle is to get everyone vaccinated as soon as possible “He went on to say,

After Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham,’ ‘Singham Returns,’ and ‘Singham,’ Simmba’ is the fourth film in Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’

Reliance Entertainment is presenting the picture, which is being produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in collaboration with Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films.

While holding a film for a long period is “difficult,” the filmmaker says the release of “Sooryavanshi” is contingent on when theatres reopen.

“We don’t know when theatres will open, and if they do, what capacity they will have.” It was hoped that it would begin in January last year. I’m not sure when the theatres will reopen. Because the third wave is predicted by everyone. When the authorities predicted the second wave, many dismissed it, but I don’t believe the third wave, if it occurs, should be dismissed.

While it is critical to resume work, the director believes it should be done with the proper process in place.

“It is critical that work begin immediately. However, it is critical that we look after our loved ones and coworkers and become responsible; the vaccine push is also in full gear in our country, and it will only be a matter of months. It’s great that things are starting to open up. But we shouldn’t get too enthusiastic because then everything will go back to normal. All of this must be handled with caution, particularly after the second wave “Added he.

The director’s next project is ‘Cirkus,’ which reteams him with ‘Simmba’ star Ranveer Singh. The Comedy of Errors is a cinematic version of William Shakespeare’s play.

‘Cirkus’ is a “completely different” picture, according to Shetty, who has previously dealt with humor in his successful ‘Golmaal’ series.
