Actress Sushmita Sen revealed that in her upcoming web series, Taali, she will portray transgender activist Gauri Sawant. Sushmita uploaded the first image from the show and said she was “honored and blessed” to bring Sawant’s narrative to the screen. Ravi Jadhav, a Marathi director, will direct the series.

“Nothing makes me more thrilled and appreciative than the opportunity to portray this great youngster and share her story with the world,” Sushmita said. Cheers to life and the right of all to live it with dignity!! I love you guys!!! #duggadugga.”

Who exactly is Gauri Sawant?

Gauri Sawant is an activist who formed the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust in 2000, a non-profit organisation that counsels transgender individuals and encourages safe sexual practices. The six-episode series will chronicle Sawant’s life, including her hardships and obstacles in becoming the first transgender mother in India. It will also emphasize the emotional tie between mother and daughter.

According to a report from Mid-Day, the event will require between 25 and 50 trans performers per day. Approximately 300 transgender actors have been employed for crowd scenes to be filmed within the next month. After two weeks of filming at the Dahisar studio, the crew will go to the Lata Kunj house in Irla.

Sushmita, who has a number of upcoming projects, is anticipated to complete the series in November, after which she will begin filming the third season of Ram Madhvani’s Aarya. She is also prepared to return to the big screen in a biopic. Deepak Mukut, film producer, told Indian Express, “We are happy to have Sushmita Sen on board for our next biographical film. She has always been a film presence to be reckoned with, and she is a perfect fit for the role of the protagonist in this biography. We are certain it will be a fascinating trip for everyone.”
