The love story of actors Kajol and Ajay Devgn is nothing short of a fairytale. Because of their opposing personalities, the two were labeled as ‘unlikely’ couples. Ajay was an introvert, whereas Kajol was known for her bubbly and talkative personality. Let us shed some light on their love story on Kajol’s 48th birthday.
They met on the set of Hulchul, their 1995 film. After the death of the film’s lead, Divya Bharti, Kajol was offered the role. They later dated for almost 4 years but kept their relationship private. On February 24, 1999, the couple married in their Mumbai home. After their wedding, they went on a two-month honeymoon in Europe.
During an episode of No Filter Neha in 2018, Kajol spoke to Neha Dhupia about how no one thought their marriage was a good idea and how she persuaded her father to approve of her marriage. “Other than his and my families, no one wanted us to marry,” Kajol explained. My family was also skeptical. When I told my father (late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee) that I wanted to marry, he didn’t speak to me for a week. ‘Why do you want to get married, you’re so young and your career is doing so well,’ he said, and I said, ‘But I want to get married!’ Ajay and I were very different people, so many people were skeptical about what we would be like as a couple, and we were not particularly social even back then. “Not many people had met us or knew what we were like together.”
