Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan will soon be seen acting in the upcoming film ‘Double XL,’ which stars Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi. The film follows two plus-size women as they pursue their dreams.
Explaining how the development occurred, India’s opening batsman said: “As a national team athlete, life is always extremely hectic. A favorite pastime of mine is watching entertaining films. When this opportunity presented itself and I heard the story, I was profoundly affected.”
He stated that the film aims to deliver a healthy message to society and has the potential to spark a dialogue, “This is a beautiful message for the entire society, I pray that many boys and girls, regardless of the odds, will never give up on their dreams.
The film, directed by Satramm Ramani, is a slice-of-life social comedy drama in which both actresses underwent massive body transformations and even gained weight for their roles. The film has been extensively shot in India and the United Kingdom.
The film follows the journeys of two plus-size women, one from rural Uttar Pradesh and the other from urban New Delhi. Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra are also featured.
The Double XL trailer starring Sonakshi Sinha, and Huma Qureshi was released last month. It made a humorous comment about bodyweight stereotypes that plague society.
In just 30 seconds, the teaser generates curiosity for the film by showing Sonakshi and Huma engaging in playful banter about how size issues only affect women. Sonakshi, using subtle innuendo, asks what would happen if men were to receive the same treatment as women; where would they go?
On November 4, 2022, Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, Wakaoo Films, and Mudassar Aziz will release ‘Double XL’ in theatres.
