Kangana Ranaut announced on Thursday that actor Milind Soman will play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in her coming up soon directorial Emergency. Kangana also shared Milind’s first look from the film on Instagram. Milind was wearing a uniform and sported Sam Manekshaw’s iconic mustache in the photo.
Kangana captioned the photo, “Presenting the dynamic @milindrunning as #SamManekshaw, the man instrumental in saving India’s frontiers during the Indo-Pak war and whose service was as distinguished as his honesty.
Milind also posted the photo on Instagram with the caption, “Honored to be a part of @kanganaranaut’s directorial #Emergency and play the role of Sam Manekshaw, who led India to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war with his wit and vvalor”
Kangana has revealed the first looks of several characters in Emergency thus far. Kangana Ranaut will play late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, while Shreyas Talpade will play late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Anupam Kher will portray revolutionary leader J P Narayan, while Mahima Chaudhry will play cultural activist and Indira Gandhi confidante Pupul Jayakar.
Kangana Ranaut wrote and directed the film, which is billed as the story of a watershed moment in India’s political history. The screenplay and dialogues for the film were written by Ritesh Shah. Renu Pitti and Kangana are the producers of Emergency, a Manikarnika Films production. The team has started filming the project. Kangana’s first solo directorial effort. Kangana was most recently seen in the box office flop Dhaakad. She will be seen in the film Tejas, where she will play an Indian Air Force pilot. The official release date of the film, directed by Sarvesh Mewara, is still unknown.
