SeetaGeeta was the first to report that Akshay Kumar will reunite with his Mission Mangal director, Jagan Shakti, for a new project. We have learned that the film is a sci-fi action thriller in which Akshay plays a dual character. The title of the film was disclosed a few days later: Mission Lion. And now we have more information on the project.
“Mission Lion has been placed on hold by Akshay Kumar and his producers, Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani. It’s a costly film, and they believe now isn’t the ideal moment to release it, given the current market conditions. Even writing the script took longer than intended. As a result of the convergence of all elements, the three decided to put the project on hold for the time being,” a source told SeetaGeeta. “The production budget of Mission Lion was estimated to reach upwards of Rs. 70 crores, plus the performance salaries of Akshay Kumar, other cast members, and marketing spends,” the insider continued. A film of this kind necessitated a lot of time and money, with no compromises on the script or the budget.
The team will revisit it once the on-ground scenario is better for theatrical business. In fact, even the script had not shaped up as well as Akshay Kumar expected it to be.”
This has made Jagan sad because he was looking forward to starting production on the project. He had been planning to put it on floors long before the outbreak, but his plans have suddenly been thrown out the window.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is one of Bollywood’s busiest men, starring in films such as Sooryavanshi, Raksha Bandhan, Atrangi Re, Ram Setu, Cinderella, Bachchan Pandey, Oh My God 2, and his digital debut, The End. His shooting schedule is set through the summer of 2022.
