On Friday evening, the Mumbai Crime Branch searched Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s Juhu home for six hours before leaving after recording the actress’ testimony in the pornographic case. Shilpa Shetty claims movies on husband Raj Kundra’s app are ‘not pornography but erotica’.
Shilpa Shetty has denied her involvement in the alleged act of transmitting sexually explicit information, according to a Mid-Day article. According to reports, Shilpa stated during her statement to the investigative team that the clips accessible on Kundra’s app Hotshot are not “pornography,” but rather “erotica,” citing “more filthy” examples from other OTT platforms.
Meanwhile, during the residence raid, the Crime Branch confiscated computer devices.
Shilpa’s role in the crime is still being investigated, according to sources close to the inquiry. “The reason Shilpa has come under scrutiny is that she resigned from the director’s job at Viaan Industries,” the source told SeetaGeeta. Because Viaan Industries was reportedly in charge of pornographic production and distribution, the detectives decided to investigate and see if Shilpa benefited in any way from the money made at the firm.
Shilpa’s bank accounts will also be investigated for the same, according to the source, and the Crime Branch will determine how long she functioned as one of the company’s directors.
Kundra, on the other hand, is said to have disputed all charges leveled against him in the case. After his police custody was extended till July 27, the businessman went to the Bombay high court on Friday to protest his arrest as “illegal.”
According to police sources, WhatsApp groups set up for the operation of the pornographic ring point to Kundra’s involvement. Participants in one of the groups, in which he is an admin, watched sensual films, or soft porn, on other online sites and applications to make sure they weren’t stolen from Kundra’s firm. Actors, stories, revisions, locations, crew members, and the final rollout were all discussed in another WhatsApp group.
