Ayan Mukerji said that he began working on Brahmastra in 2014 and was irritated when Ranbir Kapoor chose to shoot Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju instead of preparing for Brahmastra.
After a lengthy wait, the trailer for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s film Brahmastra was revealed on Wednesday. The film has been in the works for a long time, with shooting lasting more than five years. Ayan Mukerji, the film’s director, has claimed that one of the delays was caused by Ranbir himself, for which he was unhappy.
Brahmastra will be Ayan Mukerji’s third straight film starring Ranbir Kapoor, after Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Brahmastra pre-production began in 2014, a year after the release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, however, Ranbir postponed his preparation for the film to focus on his 2018 release Sanju. Rajkumar Hirani’s biography of actor Sanjay Dutt also marked Ranbir’s last on-screen appearance.
Ayan recently talked about his almost nine years on Brahmastra. He told the times, “Ranbir was given Sanju when I began working on Brahmastra. He was meant to begin preparation with me, but he opted to begin with Sanju first. I was furious. I was delighted that he was collaborating with Raju Hirani, but what about my project?”
Ayan, on the other hand, said that he now realizes Ranbir made the correct choice by prioritizing Sanju. “In retrospect, I’m glad Ranbir opted to work on Sanju rather than my project since Sanju was filmed, edited, and ready for release a few years later, while my pre-production had taken so long,” Ranbir Johar said. he said not yet begun. It would have been too long if Ranbir had waited for me.”
Brahmastra will be Ranbir and Alia Bhatt’s debut film together, and they fell in love while shooting for it in 2017. After its September 9 release, Brahmastra will be Ranbir and Alia’s first film after their April 2022 wedding. In addition to the couple, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy.
