The forthcoming horror-comedy film, ‘Kakuda’, features actor Riteish Deshmukh. He recently discussed the film’s potential to poke fun at previous successful horror-comedies, such as ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, in an interview. In the Aditya Sarpotdar-directed film, the actor is accompanied by Saqib Saleem and Sonakshi Sinha. Riteish portrays the character of a “videshi tantrik,” a spirit hunter, as evidenced by the trailer that was released last week.
He refuted the allegations that ‘Kakuda’ disparages ‘Stree’ or any other horror-comedy film during his interview with Zoom. He stated that filmmakers typically draw inspiration from successful films, and this is the same in this instance. The film features a dialogue titled “Fear does not come from ghosts, it comes from humans.” He expressed, “This is not a criticism of ‘Dabangg’ or Sonakshi’s performance; instead, it is an homage to the film.”
Additionally, he disclosed his motivation for participating in ‘Kakuda’. Riteish stated that the film’s simplicity was what captivated him. “I found the story to be extremely captivating.” While classified as a horror-comedy, it does not just revolve around fear and entertainment. He further stated, “It is a narrative that is heartfelt and centers on the relationships between the characters.”
A fictional haunted village named Ratodi is the setting of ‘Kakuda’, in which each home has two doors: one large and one small. The smaller door is designated for a spirit named Kakuda. The film is a romantic tale in which the character Sunny, portrayed by Saqib, experiences emotions of affection towards Indira, portrayed by Sonakshi. Nevertheless, their lives are completely upended by the Kakuda curse. Victor, the ghost hunter, enters the drama at this point and assists Indira in saving her husband’s life.
Aditya’s debut film follows the enormous triumph of “Munjya,” which was released in June of this year and became a box office sensation. Additionally, ‘Kakuda’ serves as Sonakshi’s debut feature subsequent to her nuptials to Zaheer Iqbal. Beginning July 12, the film will be accessible for streaming on ZEE5.
