Sonu Sood on his role as the antagonist in Acharya: ‘Chiranjeevi wasn’t sure if hitting me would be accepted by the public.’

Sonu Sood

During the last two years, when cinemas were mostly closed, actors in the entertainment industry used social media platforms to share how they learned to make Algona coffee at home or how their workout routines had shifted away from their gyms, but Sonu Sood found a way to use his clout for the good of the people. During the height of the pandemic, the actor transformed into a philanthropist, providing transportation, oxygen, medical supplies, and anything else that was needed. Sonu is now back to doing what he was known for: acting. He is still actively assisting people, but his real-life hero image is beginning to influence his screen image as well.

Sonu returns to the big screen with Acharya, a film starring Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Sonu Sood plays an antagonist in the Koratala Siva-directed film, according to the trailer. In an interview with indianexpress.com, Sonu revealed that it was “difficult” for people to see him in a negative light. He admitted that even the producers were nervous because they weren’t sure if the audience would accept him in a negative role.

“It’s difficult for me to see myself” (in a negative role). “All the producers, directors, and writers have said how they can’t see or imagine me in a negative role anymore,” Sonu said, adding that he noticed things changing for him even on the sets of Acharya, where some scenes were reshot after the pandemic.

Covid-19 was the first of two projects I started before Acharya, one of which was Acharya.” And a few scenes had to be reworked a bit. Chiranjeevi sir was unsure whether hitting me would be accepted by the audience, just as he was in the action sequences. So, yes, people are thinking about it a lot. Even the scripts that are being sent to me are all for positive roles. So there will be a second inning,” Sood added.

With his new image as a messiah, we were curious if there had been a significant change in the types of scripts that were being offered to him. Sonu is being offered “real hero, superhero, and larger-than-life hero roles,” which is a change of pace for him. With a plethora of scripts coming his way, he now has the task of selecting the best ones, which Sonu takes very seriously. “You have a lot of responsibility,” he said.”It was hard to choose.”

“I believe your on-screen image can become much more realistic,” he added. By God’s grace, whatever little I’ve done in the last few years has given me a new image. It has given writers new ideas about how to write my roles, and it has given producers the confidence to try something new. It (philanthropy work) affected my career, but it was a positive one.”

Sonu Sood has stated that Acharya will be “a special film in my career.” Sood responded, “My mother,” when asked who his Acharya is in his life. She was my instructor. She instilled in me the importance of life values. She taught me the importance of giving back to society and riding on the hard work you have put in. She taught me that “good wishes and prayers work wonders.”

To my knowledge, this is the first time I’ve worked with either Chiru or Ram Charan. Both of them are exceptional individuals. Sonu Sood described his co-stars as “very hardworking.” “I had a great time, especially with Chiru sir,” he said, adding that he and the Megastar got along well both on and off the set.”Whenever the opportunity arose, we’d bring up our philanthropic endeavors in the past.” He remarked, “We always had some things in common to talk about.
With the success of KGF Chapter 2, RRR, the conversation about pan-Indian films has gained traction, so we asked Sonu if Hindi cinema is lagging in terms of content. “I don’t think so,” Sonu replied. They’re making some fantastic films/series. They are experimenting and exploring. But, yes, the audience has become wiser. They are not prepared for anything ordinary. As a result, you must excel in every department, regardless of industry or language.”

Sonu has been in the entertainment industry for two decades, but he believes “this is just the beginning.” “I’m learning something new every day.” I will do my best and continue to change people’s lives along the way. “I will continue this unique journey,” he said.
