Sunny Leone, the actress, says she started her makeup and clothing line after brands refused to sign her as an endorser.
Sunny Leone is a name and a face that millions of people in our country recognize. She has it all, so it comes as no surprise that she has had to deal with rejections as well.
“Of course, everyone has to deal with rejection. You don’t want to feel that way because it affects your day, but there’s always tomorrow. You’re preoccupied with something else. If no one gives it to you, you go out and get it. “How will you satisfy yourself and your career?” she asks.
The 41-year-old has a devoted fan base, but when it comes to brands, things are different. Leone reveals that they are hesitant to enlist her endorsement. “There is no makeup brand in India that would cast me in an advertisement.” That hurts because you think, ‘I can be just as good as they are.’ A clothing brand that will not give you clothes to wear to an event because they believe you are too small for them. So, what do you do now? I started my makeup line and clothing line. It’s all mine. It’s just a matter of saying, “You know what? “Buzz off, I’ll just create it and make it all about how I want the world to perceive my brand,” the actor continues. What happens when the roles are reversed, and she is the one who declines a project she dislikes? Doesn’t that hurt people’s feelings?
“It all has to work,” she says. Some people believe that signing a film is just one yes, but you have to say yes to so many different things before you even get to the set. I’m referring to the business side of things, your contract, the money, the stylist, hair and makeup artist, and what is expected of you. That is, at least, how it is for me. We say no to a lot of things, and it probably hurts their feelings. Consider this: if you’re trying to sell something and they say no, it hurts. But there have been times when I was turned down for projects that I wanted to be a part of.”
