Watch the new trailer for Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel,” a story of treachery and revenge set in 14th-century France and starring Jodie Comer, Adam Driver, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck. The film will be released on October 15th.
The Final Duel, the newest historical epic from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ridley Scott, has released its first teaser, which depicts an armored Matt Damon and Adam Driver battling in a plot based on France’s last sanctioned duel.
The film stars Emmy-winning Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer as Marguerite de Carrouges, the wife of revered knight Jean de Carrouges (Damon), who accuses her husband’s loyal friend, Norman squire Jacques Le Gris (Driver), of attacking her in 14th century France during the Hundred Years War. Despite Le Gris’ denial, Marguerite stands by her claim, and Jean challenges Le Gris to a combat trial.
In The Last Duel, Ben Affleck plays Count Pierre d’Alençon, who was one of the captives exchanged for France’s King John after the Battle of Poitiers. Affleck, Damon, and Nicole Holofcener co-wrote the film’s script, which was adapted from Eric Jager’s book The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France.
Kevin Halloran, Drew Vinton, and Madison Ainley serve as executive producers on The Last Duel, which is produced by Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Jennifer Fox, Holofcener, Damon, and Affleck. On October 15th, the film will be released in cinemas.
