The 75th Cannes Film Festival 2022 begins today in France and runs until May 28. The Film Festival is one of the most anticipated and prominent events in the entertainment world, with many artists, celebrities, and fans looking forward to it. Some of the best actors in the business will be there.
The Red Carpet event at the 75th Cannes Film Festival will be a lavish affair, with Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur walking with movie heavyweights such as AR Rahman, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and actress Pooja Hegde as part of the Indian delegation.
This year’s Cannes Film Market features India as the festival’s Official Country of Honour. This is the first time this honor has been awarded to a nation, and it comes as India celebrates its Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
India will have the option to propose five chosen films at the “Goes to Cannes Section.” On May 22nd, a cinema hall named the Olympia Screen was dedicated to India for the presentation of unreleased films.
According to an AIR correspondent, The international premiere of R Madhavan’s directorial debut Rocketry-The Nambi Effect will also take place during this year’s festival. The drama film is based on the story of Nambi Narayanan, a former Indian Space Research Organization scientist and aerospace engineer who was wrongfully convicted of espionage. In addition to producing the film, R. Madhavan plays the principal role.
AR Rahman’s directorial first feature, Le Musk, will also have its global premiere during the Cannes Film Market’s Cannes XR series. The 36-minute movie will be a “cinematic sensory experience including virtual reality, with motion, music, and aroma blended into the story.”
Other Indian films that will be shown at Cannes include the Marathi feature Godavari, the Hindi film Alpha Beta Gamma, the Mishing language film Boomba Ride, and the Hindi and Marathi film Dhuin, and the Malayalam film Tree Full of Parrots.
