Vikram Vedha box office: Hrithik and Saif’s film opens around $10 million

Vikram Vedha

Friday marked the release of the film Vikram Vedha, starring Hrithik Roshan as a gangster and Saif Ali Khan as a police officer. The Pushkar Gayathri-directed film clashed with Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated period drama Ponniyin Selvan I and grossed approximately 10 crores on its opening day.

The actors Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani, Sharib Hashmi, and Satyadeep Mishra also appear in the action thriller Vikram Vedha. It is a remake of the Tamil film of the same name by Pushkar Gayathri.

According to Boxofficeindia.com, Vikram Vedha performed poorly in mass centers such as Maharashtra and Gujarat. The film’s opening numbers are comparable to those of two disappointing releases from the same year: Shamshera and Samrat Prithviraj.

Critics have been kind to Vikram Vedha. They say that people who haven’t seen the original will like it more because they won’t be able to compare it to the remake. According to the Hindustan Times film review, Vikram Vedha is a stylized, blown-up, and somewhat sanitized remake of a cult classic. It must be all of these due to its size and scope, as well as the star power it carries. Some parts of the original were omitted from the remake, which may have made the film better. In certain instances, however, the creators chose style over substance. The good news is that it is not noticeable or, at the very least, annoyingly choppy. Vikram Vedha is a thriller as well as a masala action film. It is entertaining enough to elicit a few whistles and applause in a packed theatre. You will get your money’s worth, even if that value is no longer 75.”

Regarding his collaboration with Saif Ali Khan in this two-hero film, Hrithik told PTI, “For the first time in my 22-year career, I felt compelled to protect myself. I felt an instinctual urge to be very genuine because I am performing opposite the most genuine actor.
