Vivek Agnihotri on Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot FIR: ‘Very stupid’

Vivek Agnihotri

Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot made national headlines after multiple FIRs were filed against him for posing naked in a recent photoshoot. Now, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has reacted to the actor’s police complaint, calling it “very stupid.” The filmmaker questioned how Ranveer’s nude photos were hurting women’s feelings, calling it an “amusing case.”

On July 21, Ranveer Singh’s photos from his Paper magazine cover photoshoot were released, and reactions began to pour in from all directions. While some praised the actor for being “brave,” others chastised him for exposing everything. Furthermore, two separate FIRs were filed against Ranveer with Mumbai Police for obscenity and hurting sentiments. According to one of the complaints, the actor’s nude photographs offended women and insulted their modesty.

In response to the complaint, Vivek Agnihotri told Aaj Tak recently, “It is a very stupid FIR.” This is an amusing case that is gaining attention for no apparent reason. According to the FIR, women’s feelings are being hurt. Now tell me, does having so many naked pictures of women hurt men’s feelings? This is a ridiculous argument.”

The filmmaker, whose most recent film The Kashmir Files was one of the biggest hits of 2022, defended Ranveer’s decision to do a naked photoshoot, saying that the human body was the “most beautiful creation of God.” Vivek Agnihotri went on to say that there’s nothing wrong with a naked photoshoot and that people who are offended by it are displaying very conservative thinking,’ which the filmmaker does not support.READ: The Russo Brothers have chosen Priyanka Chopra over Deepika Padukone to play Captain Marvel

“In our culture, human bodies have always been valued. The human body, in my opinion, is God’s most beautiful creation. What’s the problem with that? Such things irritate me. It demonstrates very conservative thinking, which I disagree with,” Vivek said.

Swara Bhasker, an actor, had previously called Ranveer’s nude photoshoot “foolish.” Swara had written in response to the charges filed against Ranveer in the case, “Unbelievable foolishness and unemployment are rampant in our country!” Swara had previously responded to the controversy surrounding Ranveer’s photos, tweeting, “Daily cases of injustice & oppression in India, but sure.. our outrage is reserved for @RanveerOfficial’s photos!” Seriously, if you don’t like it, don’t look at it! Don’t drink it if it’s not your cup of tea! But please don’t impose your preferences on us! And no, this isn’t a moral quandary!”
