Neela Aasmaan So Gaya, a song performed by Amitabh Bachchan in the film Silsila, features the actor’s own voice. Shiv-Hari composed the song, but its original composers were Amitabh Bachchan and the late veteran actor Shammi Kapoor. Shammi revealed in a video shared by Rajshri Unplugged that he and Big B composed the song during one of their jam sessions, during which Amitabh played the guitar and he sang.

Shammi recalled that during the production of the 1975 film Zameer, he and Bachchan would spend time in his hotel room jamming together after each day of filming. Everyone stayed at the same hotel. After filming, he would bring his guitar to my room, where I would sing and we would make music together,” he recalled, adding, “One evening, we created a beautiful tune. I began singing a pahadi tune, and he accompanied me on guitar.”

Shammi recalled that when Amitabh was filming Silsila in 1981, he called him and asked permission to use the tune. “He called me one day while he was filming for Silsila. However, the actor from Junglee had completely forgotten about the composition, and Amitabh reminded him by saying, “That tune we created during Zameer.” Shammi was delighted to offer his blessings. “I said ‘Oh my god, go ahead. Do whatever you please with it. That is exactly what he did. He utilised it in Silsila with the song “Neela Aasaan So Gaya.”

Hariprasad Chaurasiya (of the duo Shiv-Hari) stated in a previous interview with Sathya Saran for Rediff that he “liked the sound of the tune” of “Neela Aasaan So Gaya.” “I liked the way the tune sounded, so I asked him to sing it to us, and then I expanded it into a full-fledged song,” he explained.
