When Karan Johar had a “loose motion attack” while filming Bole Chudiyan

Karan Johar

When Karan Johar cast the biggest stars of Hindi cinema in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, it was considered the greatest casting coup of the time. Karan appeared to have struck gold with his casting decisions when he cast Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor in the film. However, the director was far too anxious to carry out his plans. So much so that as soon as filming began, he was ill, and on the third day of filming, Karan was supervising the set from a monitor in his vanity vehicle with a drip on his arm.

Previously, Karan discussed Rajeev Masand’s Picture. Ke Peeche revealed that the film’s first scene was the Farah Khan-choreographed song “Bole Chudiyan.” It involves all six main characters in the film, and he admitted he was “actually that frightened.” Karan said that he was “very stressed” and ill for the first two days.”I was pretty anxious, and all I could keep saying was, ‘Oh God, I’m directing Amitabh Bachchan!’My stomach was in knots by the time the day arrived, and I had the realisation that he was going to be there. I experienced a “loose motion attack.” I was constantly running to and from the restroom.” At that point, I believe I was so dehydrated, weak, and nervous that I walked out of the bathroom, said her name, and fell on her,” he recalled. “I slumped on her because I was terrified, weak, and dehydrated.”
Karan had passed out on the set of his second film, and the third day of filming. The director of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil recalled that when he awoke, Amitabh Bachchan was staring into his eyes, and there was a trickle on his arm.

He stated that the next thing he remembered was a scene from a Bollywood film. When I gently opened my eyes, I thought I saw Amitabh Bachchan staring into them. There was a drip in my hand, physicians were in the make-up room, and Amitabh Bachchan was sitting next to me saying in his baritone voice, “Karan, don’t worry, we’ll dance well.” I promise.’ I was then fully conscious, so I responded affirmatively.

The part that had made Karan anxious, in which the entire cast gathers at the end of the song, was filmed in his absence, and Farah Khan did it all on her own. All six actors singing together were shot when I wasn’t there! In the make-up area, I was carrying my walkie-talkie and monitor. Farah reported that the day went extremely well because I was not on set.
