Ranbir Kapoor has millions of fans around the world, but he had a bit of a fanboy moment a few years ago when he ran into Hollywood star Natalie Portman on the streets of New York. He told The Kapil Sharma Show about their meeting in 2016 when he came to promote his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
“Main New York pe chal raha tha.” Actually, main bhaag raha tha, mujhe bohot zor ki bathroom aa rahi thi. Hotel ki taraf aur phone pe baat karte hue aise guzar rahi thi. ‘Yaar, yeh toh Natalie Portman hai,’ Nazar mili toh maine socha. Toh main ghoom ke bhaag ke Aaya Aur Kaha, ‘Ek photo, Ek photo’ (I was walking through New York’s streets. I was running because I needed to use the restroom immediately. I was sprinting towards the hotel when she passed by, on the phone. It was only when he realized that Natalie Portman was in the room that he retraced his steps and approached her.
Ranbir was so excited to get a picture with Natalie that he didn’t notice she was crying. “Get lost, I say!” she yelled angrily at him.
Ranbir revealed while recounting the incident, that while his heart broke when Natalie snapped at him, it did not make him any less of a fan. “Main kuch kum fan ban gaya, par aisa nahi hai.” ‘Ek photo, Ek photo,’ Kal Bhi Agar Woh Mujhe Sadak pe mil jaaye, toh main Colunga (It’s not like This did not make me a fan of the show any less than I already was. If I see her on the street tomorrow, I’ll ask for another picture with her),” he said.
Ranbir will soon be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor in Luv Ranjan’s romantic drama. He also has Brahmastra, which will be released in theatres on September 9 and stars Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy. Shamshera, Ranbir’s most recent film, was released on July 22.
